“VIRASAT”: Inter House Heritage Quiz 2021
“You don’t stumble upon your heritage. It’s there, just waiting to be explored and shared.”
In an attempt to motivate the future generations of our country towards efforts required to protect and conserve our vast cultural heritage, an Inter House Heritage Quiz “VIRASAT” was organised at Sanskar School on Saturday, 24th April 2021 for the students of classes 9 to 12 including participants from the four houses Atharva, Rig, Sam and Yajur. The quiz aimed at raising awareness among the students about the country’s rich heritage and to sensitize them to the cultural diversity of India. It focused on preserving our heritage as well as the diversity and vulnerability of monuments and heritage sites.
For students from grades 6 to 8, the quiz was conducted through the Google Form platform to provide ease and uniformity for all the students to participate. The wide variety of questions placed emphasis on the importance and history of our country. The students proved their mettle through the exciting quiz at the end of which the first three positions were selected from each class and house.
For students from grades 9 to 12, it was an online competition conducted on Google Meet through the links shared with the participants. Two students were chosen from each class to represent their house with each of the four houses having total 8 participants. The five unique rounds comprising different segments were called “Colours of India”, “Seen but Unseen”, “Clever Monster”, “People Who Inspire” and “Beat the Clock”. Each round was a power house of knowledge-enhancing questions faced confidently by the students. The students tackled engaging questions and colourful images of monuments, national leaders, etc. The competition was tough but the children held their nerve and contested keenly. Although all the houses participated actively, eventually it was Yajur house, Rig house and Sam House which bagged the first, second and third position, respectively, with Atharva house at the fourth place.
The perfect selection and presentation of questions by the Quiz master complemented the students’ intellect and the teams’ wonderful performances were a testimony to the fact that even with all that is taking place around the world, learning is happening perfectly in sync through areas beyond the textbooks.
