Sanskar School celebrates World Food Day 2020
World Food Day is celebrated all across the globe on 16th October every year. This year’s World Food Day marked its 75th Anniversary with the theme “Grow, Nourish, Sustain Together. Our actions are our future.” The current health crisis initiated by the Corona virus pandemic has made us all sit up and take note of the importance of maintaining our health. This year’s World Food Day was devoted to highlight food and agriculture as a significant part of COVID-19 response.
Sanskar School students from Primary classes commemorated this day with great enthusiasm by drawing ‘My Healthy Plate’, emphasizing the importance of balanced diet in maintaining good health and an overall fit body. Grade 4 and 5 learners also shared their views on ‘How Nutrition can help fight against COVID-19 Pandemic’. They highlighted the importance of strengthening the immune system through optimal nutrition and dietary nutrient intake as a viable prevention against this pandemic.
The Middle school students made presentations on relevant topics like ‘We always focus on what to eat rather than how to eat’, ‘Are you smart enough to choose your diet?’, Why should food not be wasted?’, ‘The health benefits of an Apple as per the familiar expression- An apple a day keeps the doctor away’.
A special virtual assembly was also organized by the senior students wherein they prepared and shared presentations and expressed their views reflecting the current food and agricultural scenario in India and other developing nations. The Principal, Ms. Girdhar Kumari, applauded their efforts and encouraged them to think further on the lines of food scarcity and our role as citizens to eradicate this social evil from the roots.
